America the Beautiful Quarter Series
OK, People, here's a new bandwagon to jump on! The new Quarter Series, called "America the Beautiful," featuring scenic spots in each state, will come out next week. Each state will take a turn based on the origination date of their beautiful place. In spite of Yellowstone in Wyoming being the first National Park, the first quarter will be Arkansas Hot Springs, followed by Yellowstone, Yosemite, Grand Canyon and Mt. Hood. There will be some familiar places and some obscure little gems and not all of them are National Parks.
Go get on the USMint web site and check out the details. Although the Mint has recently added new content I didn't see the eleven-year schedule. The ANA (American Numismatic Assoc.) web site has some more info and also games and contests. Probably others, too. Post/reply here if you know of other interesting web sites pertaining to the new quarter series.

New Territory - Puerto Rico
A few weeks ago I picked up a second roll of Puerto Rico quarters for my stash. I read on the US Mint site that the quarter special reverse designs will be extended with a National Park series. The first three decades of collecting coins was rather boring. I can only remember design changes for the Eisenhower & Susan B. Anthony dollars and the 1976 Bicentennial quarter, half and dollar reverses. Now in the last ten years every denomination except the dime has had several design changes, its hard to keep up. No wonder the Mint estimates that the number of collectors has risen from 6 million to over 110 million. There's something for everybody. What's your favorite modern US coin design?

On Wednesday the Governor of Hawaii was here in Denver at the US Mint to witness the production of the first Hawaii State Quarters. She was interviewed by a local radio station. Mint release date is November 4.
It will be sad to see the end of the series, but gratifying to have completed it.

Please help to do search better
I need some help from coin collectors with my new project: Coins 2.0 - The Numismatic Search Engine.
Coins 2.0 seek only on numismatic websites, therefore results must be more relevant than on standard search engines like Google or MSN.
Everyone here specialize in US coins, so please make some your typical requests on www.coins2.com and write me your opinions and advices:
1. What useful (by your experience) links not included into results?
2. What "garbage" links gets into results?
If you can spend on it some minutes - I'll be very pleased!

Hi everyone! I've been collecting State Quarters for 2 years now, but recently I've had to clean my room and I've lost my collection. And the book it was in. I got a new one and have collected a few so far, but I'm still missing a lot. Anyone willing to swap? Current Mood: hopeful

Does anyone know if all the quarters are out for this year. I got most of mine while working as a cashier, but now that I'm in school, I've kinda lost track of things.

Hi everyone. I just joined. I love collecting coins. I have tons of state quarters, but I collect other kinds as well. I have noticed that there isn't really a site for people who are interested in numismatics in general so I created one, Coin Collectors Anonymous. You all are welcome to join. c_c_anonymous

Hey I don't want to spam you guys but I've been working on a coin dealer web site
that lists coins that are for sale on ebay. I found that it was amazing how many people don't use ebay despite it being a really good place to buy things, especially like this. Anyway, I found that on one of my other web sites over 60% of the people just hit the back button when they go there, so for this site I wanted to get some people's opinions directly from my target audience. If it isn't too much trouble..
1) What are your first impressions?
2) Would your feel comfortable purchasing something from this site?
3) How would you improve the design to make it better?

Just wanted to say howdy...
Howdy. New member. I have been collecting both the (P) and (D) State Quarters since they came out. My book is currently complete up to 2006 (finally). I have a nevada on its way from my Mom. However, living in Hollywood, Florida, I almost always only get P minted coins. It is always a thrill to find the elusive quarter (for me it was 2004 Michigan (D) which I just found last month).

XD anyhow so that's cool. have you guys seen the new nickels? I've seen two different types; there's this one that's been out like, at LEAST six months I think, and then this other one that has something about Lewis and Clark on it. cool stuff. :) I wish I'd started this community earlier! at least we still have a few years left of new quarters coming out. :) Current Mood: good

I hope we get some more people to join. Right now it's only me and I feel kinda silly for being the ONLY person who likes to collect State Quarters here in lj-land. Anyhow, I assume you have seen the new Kansas quarters. They're so pretty, I think; a few weeks ago when they first came out, we got a whole roll of them at work! yay. :) I dunno when West Virginia comes out but it'll be cool when it does. :) Current Mood: okay

Just created this community to see if there are other State Quarter fiends like me out there in lj-land, and if they wanted to have their own community.
Feel free to join! :)
